WORK.com.mm & Shwe Waa team up for the Career Booster Workshop in Mandalay
July 24, 2017
Interview with Wim Somers, Shwe Waa:
"It is vital for Myanmar Job Searchers and candidates to start realising that showing professionalism starts already when replying to a job advertisement and definitely when entering the office of the future employer. It is amazing how many candidates are unfriendly do not greet the people in the office when they enter , are totally unprepared and do not even know what job they are applying for or what the company does. The on-line websites where they can apply for a job by clicking a single button do not add to the effectiveness but rather enhance the laziness. None know the difference between a job and a career and all they care about is "how much you pay me?" and "How little do I have to work for that?". Yet they feel taking more courses of mostly dubious quality will help them land a dream job i.e. high pay with little or no input. Unfortunately an open labour market with foreign employers do not fall for this and are increasingly stepping away from Myanmar because of its lack of skills AND because of the bad attitude of its workforce. Not a popular statement but one very much alive among the foreign business community. But people, it does not have to be this way!!! Remember that any foreign companies will always prefer a positive-minded person with common sense over the thousands of Myanmar graduates with no skills but lots of "I am a graduate" attitude to spare."
"So we recommend anyone who cares for their career to catch up with the times and join the Career Booster Workshop. It will be eye-opening. This workshop aims to put to rest some of the myths that more certificates and degrees help you long-term. Instead it will teach candidates to think strategically first of all in their day to day life then how to prepare - also strategically - for the job they dream of. The Career Booster Workshop will add to your life what no course or university will ever teach and will do so with a life-long benefit."
